Are there any other people out there who still hope to see old WiPs (theirs or someone else’s) finally completed? At least there’s Sylvain (Wolf) who’s just updated his fic again yesterday. And even Jade (Jadealinda) posted on her fic thread in April, giving us new hope that we’d still see the story continue.

I can only admire those Snitch fanfic writers who have remained active also in serving the community – for instance by participating in and even arranging challenges, in addition to starting and updating regularly new chaptered stories. But I’d like to hear from those writers, too, who’ve kept at least thinking about their old WiPs and are still planning to share more with readers on the Snitch and/or elsewhere – so I could admire them, too! Myself I’ve never abandoned the story I started writing in autumn 2003, but I’ve been almost unbearably slow over the past few years. This summer I finally tackled polishing the huge story from the beginning.

Perhaps we could talk about writing long-time WiPs here. Have you had any doubts about the value of not giving up? What has kept you going? What has made it hard?

I haven't officially given up on any WIP's .... but i've changed OTP's since I entered the HP fandom world and find it incredibly difficult to return to stories i started that are a different pairing than I am writing now. I have nine chaptered fictions in progress at the moment. eight of which are already floating aroudn on ff.net and one that exists solely on snitch.

The hardest part for me in keeping going on WIP's is finding time to write while the muse is running rampant over that story and before it moves on to the next. Right now i am on a high because I've completed three chapters of Pick your Poison this month and haven't yet hit a wall.

I find that my muse feeds on feedback as well.. which makes it difficult. I find that when you go a year without updating you tend to lose fans tongue.gif
