I have been thinking about the upcoming movies, and while reading the last two books some actors came into mind for different characters. First, since they are obviously not going to change the current Dumbledore, I think Ian McKellan should play Aberforth (It's better than nothing). Also I think Bill should be played by Orlando Bloom, put some Auburn highlights on him and call it a day!. Next, I think Angela Lansbury should play Auntie Muriel, Rochelle Gaad as Lavender and Joseph Fiennes as Greyback. Lastly, I think the Role of Narcissa Malfoy should be suited best for Cate Blanchett, if they cannot get her Nicole Kidman will do.

AHH the dream cast! I've been thinking of this too since reading the last book. I agree with you on some. Great question, here's my bid:
Bill Weasley - Paul Bettany
Greyback - Joseph Finnes (great choice)
Narcissa - Cate Blanchet (great choice)
Aberforth - Sean Connery
Ted Tonks - The dude that played Bilbo Gaggins

Xeno Lovegood - Rowan Atkinson
Young Tom Riddle - Bring back the dude from CoS he was HOT!
Muggle Tom Riddle - Jude Law
Aunt Muriel - Dame Elizabeth Taylor

Your choices are good, there are so many characters, i like your choice for Auntie Muriel. I also like your choice of wording for Ted Tonks

, I can see Sean Connery as Aberforth, but I just wanted to see Gandalf in wizard form one more time!

Some great ideas.
I love the Rowan Atkinson as Xeno! Awesome.
And pothead, do you mean Ian Holm?! He'd be great as Ted Tonks!
They've announced the woman from King Kong as Narcissa, I can't remember her name right now!

Naomi Watts, in response to Kirstacus.

Yeah Kirtacus, Ian Holm I believe he played Bilbo Baggins, he'd be a great Ted Tonks I think!

Those all sound good with the exception of Naomi Watts (King Kong chic). She's too wholesome looking to play Narcissa. Narcissa comes off more like an Alfred Hitchcock Femme Fatal, reminiscent of Grace Kelly or Kim Novak. I could easily see Gwyneth Paltrow or Cate Blanchet in the role. I would also like to see them find a part for Colin Firth. I think personally they should recast Shacklebolt with the guy married to Keira Knightly ( Chiwetel Ejiofor) in
Love Actually. Also, I could also see Peter O' Toole as Aberforth, and Dame Judy Dench as aunt Muriel.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

I agree with the recasting of Kingsely, I pictured him
VERY different from the actor used in the film. Touche with the Peter O' Toole nod, maybe my boy will finally get an Oscar if casted. Thoughts on who could play Merope Gaunt? Haven't the foggiest...

Just to say that Jim McManus already played Aberforth in Order of the Phoenix and I hope they keep him because he shares such a resemblance with Michael Gambon.
I like the choice of Naomi Watts for Narcissa and she is better than any other suggestion I have heard because she is the onlky British suggestion. I think she has the right kind of angular face to really look the part.
I kind of like the idea of Rowan Atkinson as Xenophilius although I have never seen him with grey hair so I'd need to try hard to imagine it lol. I almost think I saw him more like Ian Holm......but taller......lol.

Obviously being British, is not the only requirement as there are a variety of Irish actors (Michael Gambon, Brendan Gleeson, even Grenadian like George Harris. At any rate, Naomi Watts has been affiliated with the Australian Posse (along with comrades Nicole Kidman and Colin Ferrell). Cate on the other hand, although Australian born, has been regarded as a British actress and has been in more British productions than Naomi ever has. At any rate, to each his own. I still don not think of a heart-shaped pure looking face like Naomi's when I read the icy cold demure of Narcissa, but I suppose that if us fans can't even work it out then David Heyman and the crew will have their work cut out for them during the casting process.

I like the idea of Cate Blanchett playing Narcissa but i would love to see Natalie Dormer as Narcissa. Of course if they make her hair greyish blond.

Great pick Morgana.
I've seen her on the Tudors and she does a phenomenal job playing at icy and heartless. A little exotic (that's for you Pott-head82) for someone who supposed to be pale and real Nordic looking, but if Cate couldn't play in the role, I'd prefer to see Natalie over Naomi Watts.
Pott-head82 I also love your choice for young Lily.

I started re-reading DH (sorry Fawksey but I was delayed at O'hare) and it seems as though Andromeda Tonks looks a lot like Belatrix...to the point that Harry yells at her until Ted tells him that she is his wife. Do you think that they'll have the "fair" Helena play both roles and just give her softer look as described in the book? What do you think? (I'm not going to read anymore of the book until I come home in December Fawkesy so hold back the venom

Pott-head82, I'll save your venom for a private time
At any rate, That would be cool if the "fair" Helena played a dual role kinda like in Bewitched where Elizabeth McGovern played Sam and Sabrina. That's always fun.
The only other person remotely favoring Helena might be Juliet Binoche?

Its funny because I too wanted Angela Lansbury to play Muriel! (too much Murder she Wrote) lol

There are some actors that seem like that they should have a part in this movie. I feel like Kate Winslet should be in it!
Oh...I was watching 5th element the other day and I really think that Ian Holmes should play Ted Tonks...he's just got this very paternal way to him and at the same time he's eccentric. I'm really interested in the Gaunts too....all jokes aside...do you really think they'll get actors for this or will they be CGI?
pottas-gyal85
Sep 22 2007, 09:03 AM
I think CGI would be the only way for them to look like the way they are described in the book. If they do use CGI they should get Andy Serkis,

He has the experience. Anyway,, why are you so interested in the Gaunts Pott-Head? lol
