Not sure if this is in the right place but here I go.So I was reading CS and I found it interesting that on page 162 Gilldiroy lockheart is talking about curing a werewolf by performing "the immensely complex Homorphus Charm". So does this mean Lupin can be turned human again?
fenix69
Well, I think it's a permanent condition to be a werewolf and one cannot be cured from it. I think the charm is mainly used against werewolves. If Lupin could be cured wouldn't they've done that already?

i think lupin will always be a ware wolf it is..................just the way he is and besides surely dd or someone would have done him the favour of changing him back otherwise!!! blink.gif

Maybe "curing" means "taking away the pain" in this particular context because I doubt werewolves can be cured. Like fenix69 already said, Remus would be cured by now if it was possible.

Well Gilderoy Lockhart said a lot of things, if you know what i mean tongue.gif I think that Lupin will always stay a warewolf, it gives his character a certain unique quality, and i agree with the 3 previous posts - if they had a cure, they would have used it by now. I still think that Lupin's a great character though biggrin.gif (unrelated, i know, sorry!)

I have also been thinking about it but we don't know what context its been used in. JKR has used a great choice for the character to say this Gildory>> lol as we won't believe anything he says if he said the world was round we would question it.

But he does say that he's taking credit for other wizards/Witches work so maybe some one has. But also we don't know if this werewolf was a werewolf like it could be like a Bill type werewolf not a werewolf but with werewolf tendicies. so maybe this quote relates to Bill and he could be cured. i find it interesting that Greyback is mentioned a lot in the last books and when he is talking to DD; DD says something about Greyback attacking when not in werewolf form and Greyback says he does so it isnt impossible that the cured wolf could be like Bill.

But i don't think he will change he excepts himself now and i think DD would have been able to do it. But spells are always being made so it is possible i hope so. smile.gif

who knows it could be like the muggle world people thought it was impossible to cure Maleria or TB untill a few years and i'm sure the magical medical world is more accomplished then the muggle medicine world. So that Witch/Wizard could if been a medical doctor thing blink.gif making a medical break thorugh.

I always heard that a werewolf can be cured if the source of his/her werewolf-ness is eliminated. So, I think that Lupin would have to kill Greyback to be normal again.

Lockhart was an idiot so I don't think this counts for much and I don't think Lupin can ever be whole again no sad.gif
