There may be spoilers for those who haven't read the OoTF book. They say they haven't decided whether or not Hagrid a.k.a Robbie Coltrane is going to be in the next movie.
And Robbie Coltrane says he doubts he will be in the next movie.
This is ridiculous. Hagrid is one of the most liked characters, if they don't have him in there, there will be an uproar. And Hagrids part in the book is semi-important to the plot. And hagrid is really close to the trio too.
I hope they put him in the next movie, or else I'll be mad.
What are your thoughts?

I really hope that Robbie will be in OoTP because Hagrid is a great character, very cool

I would be surprised if he doesnt have at least a small part in the movie, even if its just a few lines or even standing in the background - I'm sure he'l be there. Expect the whole Grawp the giant subplot to be cut though. Even if some fans enjoyed it, it's a perfect example of extranious story that adds nothing to Harry's journey, much like "Spew" in Goblet.

I would be very dissapointed if Hagrid was totally cut from the next movie as I have become quite fond of him as played by Robbie Coltrane, and he is such a key character to be lost totally. I hope it's just a case that he hasn't been signed YET but he will. He has to be in it.

If there is no Hagrid, there is no Harry Potter. Harry Potter is not Harry POtter without Hagrid!

I completely agree with you, Jez and Jo! I'm getting very fond of Hagrid, played by Robbie Coltrane, and he should be in the movie! Harry can't bear everything without him! *points wand threateningly at whoever is producing the next movie* Imperio! Hagrid will be in the next movie, Hagrid will be in the next movie, Hagrid will be in the next movie.....

I hope they don't cut his part out and I agree that he should be in the movie, but I can see how it would be easy enough for the writers to cut his part out since there was a substitute teacher for him thru much of the book.
Too bad WB doesn't consult with the fans before butchering the books!

Lol Gwarp wasnt important to the story line.. it was the most boring part of OoTP

I'm talking about Hagrid going on his secret mission for the Order.
And how he comes to the school late.
That part of the story. Not the Grawp thing, which I agree with.

I will riot WB if Hagrid does not appear on OotP.

Hi,
I was on the Snitch main page on Saturday, and you can go to the post and comments
hereIt will be a sad day when Hagrid doesn't even have a tiny part. Even if his apperance wasn't that relevant to the plot he should be in it because I think he is great.

He has to be! They can not just take out someone who is so vital to Harry. That's JK's job.

And that would be my source, just so ya know everyone.

Actually I think it was relevant to the story. I was reading the Dumbledore death scene over in book 6 and when Hagrid was told "Snape killed Dumbledore" one of his first words uttered were, "Well you know he has to keep his cover".
Doesn't that suggest that Hagrid knows alittle about the plot? That his secret missions (saving the Giants from Voldemort) might have lead to Duumbledore giving him a little information about Snape "double crossing" them and working for Voldemort but under Dumbledore's orders?
I think Hagrid will say something in book 7 that'll clue Harry in that Snape was really working under Dumbledore's orders..

I just think Hagrid couldn't believe Dumbledore was really dead.

What?! Robbie Coltrane has to be in OOTP. I thought he said that he wants to be in the movie. Seriously, I can't imagine anyone playing Hagrid as well as he does. He is the perfect Hagrid, and one of the best actors in the cast. He's amazing! And I can just imagine him in the scene with the thestrals, and the Grawp scene. He'd be brilliant!

i definitely think that Robbie Coltrane should be in the 5th movie and if he isnt in the 5th movie then i definitelty think he should be in movie 6 because he does play some major parts in the book ....

I can understand if they cut the "Hagrid" bits out of the film version of OoTP, afterall Mike Newell said that because GOF was such a big book (and Order is even bigger!), they concentrated on Harry in the film. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same such thing in this film.
However, Hagrid is such a popular character that I can't see WB totally dismissing him from the film completely, afterall Hagrid is still a teacher at Hogwart's. I suspect we will still see him in the background, like Warwick Davis as "Flitwick" in GOF, but the subplot of Hagrid making contact with the giants and bringing Grawp back will be cut from the actual film.

They should put Hagrid in the movei, for sure. if they don't, peoploe will definetely feel that there is an emptiness to the movie. I think Gaunt is a vital part anyway, so he has to be in it.

[color=#FF0000]Noway they has 2 b a Hagrid. Do u mean no Hagrid at all or sum1 else playing him. I hope u mean the 2nd idea. Hogwart wont be the same without Hagrid. It even says in the 2nd book!

Hmm...If you want more information on Order of the Phoenix, you can check out the wikipedia site for it
here . I agree that Grawp is not central to the plot, but under the cast, they have him listed as being CGI, meaning he will be included (at least in the first pass of the script). Therefore, if Grawp is in the movie, Hagrid has to be. There is a small blurb at the bottom of this page about whether Robbie Coltrane will return, and it seems pretty positive. I think even if they cut Grawp out, the lesson with the Thestrals is important because they are used later to get to the ministry. It is also important because it shows Umbridge rating the teachers, and later when Hagrid is sacked McGonagall gets stunned and has to leave the school. It's very hard to decide what stays and goes in this movie, but I think these are all important to the main story. So, even if Grawp is out, Hagrid is still necessary in a smaller sense, like he was in Goblet of Fire.

Thanks for leaving the address of the wikipedia site. It was very helpful!
I don't think they'll cut Hagrid's character completely (at least, I hope not!!) Hagrid is an important character, and they can't have Grawp without having Hagrid (unless Hagrid left the trio a note to take care of him, but I can't imagine this) Also, Hagrid's meeting with the giants will probably be important later on, as the giants will probably be involved in the battles.

Don't rely too heavily on IMDB at this stage - a character can disappear in the editing rooms days before the movie has to be sent out for distribution (*cough* Saruman *cough*)!
I think a whole lot of people are going to find things they hold dear missing from OotP. Hagrid is to my mind one the characters that could easily be dropped and only revisited in HBP in a sort of montage of what everyone on the "good" side has been doing against Voldie. As someone above says he is missing for a significant part of the first term and it would be very easy to extend that for the year without losing anything too detrimental.
Robbie Coltrane has grown on me a lot throughout the films but I don't think I would miss him.

I really can't imagine anyone else but Robbie Coltrane playing Hagrid... he's exactly what I imagined him to be.
Hagrid is very important in Book 5 - his story about the giants was priceless

and of course, the fact that he is so concerned about brother getting on and learning to speak English... it's very sweet..
Also, in Book 6... all I can say is, poor Hagrid

I haven't heard anything about that. I remember hearing about Gary Oldman not being in it, but that was resolved and he's most definitely participating in OotP. (I'm sure if he hadn't been, there would have been a ton of boycotting the movie, and even more denial about Sirius's death after not seeing it on teh big screen.) I do believe though that Robbie Coltrane is indeed acting in OotP as his hut has all ready been assembled.

Like Harry said in the first movie: "There's no Hogwards without you, Hagrid!"
I would hate it if they'd leave him out, he's essential to the story! And the piece with Grawp may become very important later on...So many things that seemed unimporatnt in the books at first, become quite neccesary later on!
