I for one would love to see a pic of the Weird Sisters - being the huge Weird Sisters and Jarvis Cocker fan I am!

I'm not entirely sure what those two members of Radiohead look like, but I do think Jarvis would be great for the part - especially now he has long hair. I had a thread on Jarvis, but it seems to have been deleted in the clear-up, so I'm glad we have a new one on the Weird Sisters.

I was going to post a pic of Jarvis but the work computers won't let me, so I will do it later when I am at home. He is apparently writing the songs as well.

Wonder who is playing the rest of the Sisters? There are 8 members all together.

How did you find out about radio head being in GOF? How do guys know that there are 8 weird sister members? Why do they have male, real life rock stars playing, female rock stars in the movie? What sceen (if any) were the weird sisters in the GOF book? Werent they playing at the last Tri-wizard challenge?

Feather of the Phoenix...

Sorry, I must have seemed like I was talking absolute nonsense before! Let me explain...

We know that 2 members of the band Radiohead (Phil Selway and Jonny Greenwood) and also the lead singer of the band Pulp (Jarvis Cocker) have been cast from press reports and the cast list on www.imdb.com. Click here to see the list in full. imdb.com is usually very reliable and they say if casting is unconfirmed, so we can assume that these roles have been confirmed. I think it was in the newspapers too, but I'm not sure.

The Weird Sisters were introduced in GOF because they played at the Yule Ball. They are one of the Wizarding World's most popular bands. They have also been mentioned as Tonks likes to wear their t-shirts, and one or two of them made minor appearances in a couple of scenes in HBP (I won't say which scenes because of spoilers, but if you want to know which and can't be bothered trawling through the book, please feel free to PM me).

The Weird Sisters are actually all male, not female. They are named the Weird Sisters after the witches in the Shakespeare play Macbeth (Jo being huge fan of this play). At least one of them has been mentioned by name in the Harry Potter books - Donaghan Tremlett - there was an article in the Daily Prophet about him getting married. He was also featured as "Wizard of the Month" on Jo's own website back in July 2004. I also seem to remember them having been described at the Yule Ball in book 4 as very hairy men, but I cannot remember exactly what was said.

I know about the other band members from www.hp-lexicon.org. They have a list of all the characters from the Chocolate Frogs cards found in the Harry Potter computer games. Click here to see the full list of Chocolate Frog cards and here to find information on each band member.

Some people might say that the Chocolate Frog cards are not a canon source, and could have been written by anybody, but Jo confirmed on the "F.A.Q. - About the Books" page of her website that she did in fact write all the cards. Sorry, I would post a transcript, but I can't work out how to copy and paste from her site. But it's there if you go and look. I used the information from the Frog cards to write the Snitch's only Weird Sisters fanfic - just goes to show how sadly obsessed I am! But I love music myself and get the impression that the Weird Sisters are just the type of band I'd love! (Especially if Jarvis Cocker, my absolute favourite songwriter, is writing their music!)

They play rhythm guitar, bagpipes, lead guitar, cello, drums, bass and the lute, and sing. So I'm sure their sound would be very funky and unusual... (Again, with Jarvis writing their songs, they can hardly fail to be unusual! If anyone would like to hear some of his music and do not know any Pulp songs, you can listen to the start of each track here (His and Hers album), here (Different Class album), and here (This Is Hardcore album) - this should give you an idea... although he is very versatile, so the Weird Sisters could end up sounding completely different!)

Anyway, back on topic - the casting... if anyone has any pictures at all of these characters, please do post them, as I am dying to see!!!

In the meantime, here are some pictures of how they usually look, for anyone who does not know these musicians.

OMG, I only just realised when I went searching for pics of Jonny Greenwood that he is the member of Radiohead who looks a bit weird (meant in the nicest possible way) anyway! He'll make a brilliant Weird Sister! *squeals* I want to go to a Weird Sisters concert!

There were also reports originally that Franz Ferdinand were going to be in the band... but they later pulled out. I have just found a really good article scanned and posted on HPANA actually, so here is the link. Enjoy! And I hope that clears some things up for you!

I found out about Jonny and Phil at [B][FONT=Courier][COLOR=blue]this site, a site dedicated to Radiohead, for they are one of the greatest bands in the world. If anyone was right for the part, Jonny Greenwood is, and if you knew his music and writings, you could see that. I've seen him playing guitar and the piano at the same time (uses the neck of the guitar on the keys of the piano, and still hits every note right on both instraments. jonny is also the BBC Concert Orchestra's Composer in Residence.

Yeah, PrinceHansel, I have a huge amount of respect for Radiohead - they are one of the best live bands I have ever seen. "Schizophrenic robot alien elf" was the term that sprang to mind to describe Thom's performance lol! Even at a festival, they gave 150% and really were great entertainers. I just didn't realise which one in particular Jonny was - I knew he had the musical talent but now I think he looks the part too!

It's nice to see another fan out there. That discription of Thom is truly fitting and also sounds like it could be a title for a new song by them (reminisent of subterranien homesick alien). Just a little more info incase you haven't heard, their new CD is out around March/April next year. Rumer has it, it may include the tracks "Big Boots" and "Big Ideas" (huge fan favorites that are only played in concert). Nigel (reffered to as sixth member) should be producing it (it seems), but is working with Paul McCartney at the moment and will probobly join them when he is done. If anyone wanted to see Jonny playing the guitar and piano at the same time, check out the DVD of "Meeting People is Easy". I don't remember what song it is, but it's worth watching the whole thing. If anyone wants to chat more about Radiohead, check my profile to get my email address. I am always willing to paise the greatness of Thom, Jonny, Ed, Colin, and Phil.

Also side note for fans who also like Phish: Trey Anistasio covered Knives Out at a concert in Virginia a few months ago. It was pretty sweet.

Here is a quote from the production notes that have been posted on the Snitch main site...

Newell and producer David Heyman recruited British band Pulp's legendary singer and lyricist Jarvis Cocker, who together with members of his new group Relaxed Muscle and drummer Phil Selway and guitarist Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead, took the stage to play original music during the rocking Yule Ball sequence.
Working with renowned music producer Mike Hedges, Cocker penned three songs for the band to perform in the film: "This is the Night," "Magic Works" and "Do the Hippogriff."
"Jarvis was a wonderful collaborator," says Newell. "He had a lot of fun with the whole thing. He said that when he was a kid, he used to be called four eyes' because he wore glasses, so for the scene he wanted to be four eyes. Then he shut his eyes and revealed eyeballs painted on his eyelids!"
"It's not often that you get members of Pulp and Radiohead in the Great Hall," Heyman says with a smile. "Although it was just make believe, it really was an awesome experience watching the Yule Ball scenes come to life. I think for all the cast and crew, it created a great party atmosphere in which to end the year."

God, you've gotta love Jarvis. He's amazing! Can't wait to see him with "four eyes" and also to hear the songs... you can guarantee they will fit perfectly with the film, and Jarvis' music is always a litle bit... erm, not weird excatly, but quirky and different... completely unique. I can't think of any other bands that sound remotely like Pulp really. If you want to hear some of his previous songs, PM me.
