The Harry Potter series ended perfectly. there is no argument about that. i know some people think the epilogue seemed fan fic-ish, but i don't. it's what i would have loved to know about. but there are also some scenes i wish she'd written about. particularly during the last part, before the epilogue.

i wish she'd have shown us fred, lupin, and tonks, and snape's funeral. their deaths are very painful. especially fred's. i didn't think it would happen. i fervently hoped it wouldn't happen. and i would have loved to see how everyone reacted during the funeral. i want to know how george handled it. whether someone said anything to snape. what harry would have said to lupin. i want to see baby ted lupin in the funeral and whether he cried.

and i would have loved to see how tonks and lupin died. i would really want to know how it happened, at least. even somebody telling harry about it is better than not knowing at all. lupin is the last of the marauders after all. i would really have loved to know.

i wish jk writes a whole book about the epilogue to book 7.

I would've loved to seen the Dursley's again, cause they weren't so bad in this one. Would've loved to see a bit more of Tonks's mum aswell cause we saw both of her sisters, but not her.

A lot of us deep speculators of what would happen in this book surmised that The Veil would play into this. Actually, I felt, with a lot of others, that we would learn more about DOM, particularly the locked room.

What I really wanted to know at the end was whether harry ever got into contact with Dudley again. I'd think they might have become real close cousins after that.

I also wanted to know what happened with Luna, as she is my favorite character. They seemed to hint that she was going to get together with Dean, but beyond that I would like to know what happened to her.

I did love that Harry told his son that Severus was the bravest man he ever knew. I would like to hear though that the wizarding world eventually learned of his journey and struggle, and paid him tribute. He did sacrifice oh so much for so little in return. So little in his own life anyway.

I also understand that J.K. wasn't just listing what happened to everyone, she was just recreating a scene for us 19 years from now to show what happened to the trio and a few others. That is a creative tool, and it does have its limits. As a writer, I can understand how she couldn't have possibly included everything.

I really wanted to see who the new headmaster was. I've assumed it was McGonagal but I'd still like to know for sure, and the new minister.

And it would've been cool to find out about James and Lilly's jobs and their parents a bit more. Just about anything more I would've taken actually, anything at all to make the book longer

Yeah, it would've been nice to see Petunia or someone meet Harry at the end, sorry for what they'd done. Plus I really wanted to know what happened to Luna at the end.

i think for me what i miss the most is the direct aftermath. i wanted to see all the emotional stuff.

i would have loved to have seen harry reunited with ginny. him telling her that it was all over and that they could be together at last.

i wanted to see funerals too. freds especially. i think losing a twin must be like losing part of yourself and i really want to know how george coped with it. would he have carried on with the joke shop for example?

i wanted more from the ron/hermione storyline. so we know they end up together 19 years in the future but one kiss?? is that it?? even after the kiss they went back to the same old ron and hermione. i wanted more description of how their relationship had changed from firends to boyfriend and girlfriend.

i want to know who cared for ted. from the epilogue we know is was neither harry and ginny or hermione and ron. though i guess they had just coped with enough and having a baby dumped on them might be a little unfair. so who was it? molly and arthur?

then there were the smaller things....

who was minister?
who was headmaster?
what did they all do for a living? james, lily, harry, ron, hermione, ginny? luna?... everyone!!
what was the deal with the veil and the locked room at the ministry??
where do harry and ginny live? grimmauld place with kreature? godrics hollow?
where do ron and hermione live? somwhere muggle because of ron passing his driving test?

there really was a lot missing!

I would have liked the last chapter being the parents (Harry's generation) attending the graduation of their children from school. Perfect way to mix it up and catch up on everyone without being too borish. Another idea would have been a class reunion.

On the mention of where Harry might be living, did he set his House Elf free?

Did he ever "unstick" that nasty old bag of a woman, Mrs. Black from the wall or was it "curtains" for her forever? I could picture Harry's kids tormenting her, that would be fun.

Did he stay in the Muggle or magical world?? He wasn't exactly treated fantastically in either.

I too would have liked to have him accidentally run into the Dursley's, even with a car... (kidding).

Death Eaters must have gone in to hiding. Did Harry become an Auror and help to hunt down some of them?

What happened to Hagrid? Did we assume he stayed at Hogwarts or did he go off to live with the giants?

I got to like the loopy Luna. What happened to her?

Wonder if JKR will indulge us with some answers on her website or close the door on us for good.

I don't feel too bad not knowing the specifics about some of these things and I really loved the last scene before the Epilogue ending with the Trio and Harry's line about having had enough trouble for a lifetime - perfect!
However, I do wish that, for emotional value, we could have seen a reunion between Harry and Ginny after the battle and perhaps Harry giving Snape a clearing or a send off - imagine if he were buried on the Hogwarts grounds like Dumbledore or something (although I kinda like that Dumbledore might be the only one buried there so I dunno lol)

I reckon that, in a way, it is nice that not all answers have been set in stone because it leaves us free to dream! But, you never know, we may find out answers somehow.

P.S. I believe that Luna finally found the Crumple Horned Snorkack!

I'm not too happy with the last chapter, I also would have liked if there was something more after voldemort defeat. Not necessarily the actual funerals, because it would bring back the mood of the book to sad. However a mention of the funerals and a proper send off of Fred, Tonks, Lupin and even Snape. would had been nice. Also a quick round up of events after the events of the battle of Hogwarts. Like the fate of remaining death eaters and corrupted ministry officials.

Then a couple of month later, when things have setlled down a bit, a scene back in the burrow with all of them together Fleur and Bill announcing the addition of a new member to the family, The trio and Ginny reading the prophet and planning their future. Finally more about Neveille, Luna , and Dean... changes in the ministry, and more reactions of the wizarding world about Voldemort's demise.

There is incredible number of questions I'd like to know, but in the other hand, I must admit that I can hardly imagine better end. We can be sure that everything was OK and evil was defeated. If JK answered all the questions at the end of the book, there would be no place for our fantasy (and maybe for another books ). The brief end is probably better an definitely stronger than longwinded text... It's even more attractive when you read it again and again .
But... Well, the Dudley's worst moment really should be mentioned

They say in the book it's because the old potions book was 50 years old but then suddenly Snape is the Prince...didn't they go to school at the same time? I don't know if I just missed something or what but this has been driving me nuts!

No offense, but it sounds like you missed the entire ending of HP and the Half-Blood Prince. Hermione and Snape explained this in the book and the movie, repectfully.

Snape and James did go to school together(along with Sirius, Lily, Remus and Peter). Prince refers to Snape's mother Eileen Prince. Snape had her old Potions book. He was a bitter person and was amused by the play on the name.
James could never be the "Half-blood" because both his parents were wizards, whereas Snape's father, Tobias Snape was a Muggle and his mother was a witch.
