In just a few days it will be Christmas and with Christmas my sixth year here, true I'm not here as much as I once was, but I still consider The Snitch my home. This was my first board, my first online friends, this was a place that saw me grow up.... and I see many of the old members like me are still here.

So it'd be nice if we share some memories about this place.... say when or why you signed up, things you lived during the release of the books and movies, personal things you lived and shared with other board members....

Hehehehe this is a bit of thread of nostalgia about the Snitch.

Im surprised no one has posted Eilish! Im guessing it is because the board is quiet these days. I joined the forum just after i had graduated from university so i was feeling good and also i was happy about really getting into Harry Potter and discovering all the fans in the forum and the nice atmosphere here. Theres people who i used to talk to in here and i wonder where they have gone but i still talk to a few of them so its still special for me the Snitch even if its not like it used to be when there was still all the frenzy! Anybody else?

Wow, I have too many to name. Boy do I hate that the snitch has slowly died off over the years, but I guess that was to be expected when there were no more books coming to fuel the fire. This place was the cool spot before myspace or facebook were even heard of.

I hope that with school being out for the summer in most places soon that the traffic will pick up.

I'm not such an old member as you are, but I would like to join in here anyway.

The HP books have meant more than most people can imagine to me since I was twelve, and this interest has followed me although I have changed a lot over the years. As I wrote in the rant and rave thread, I haven't been active here at the Snitch for a long time, and hasn't read the books for even longer. But still, there isn't a day when HP is not on my mind, somehow.

I was fifteen when I joined the Snitch, and it was one of the first communities that I joined. Now I realised that it has been more welcoming, fun and intelligent than most communities out there, and therefore I'm so happy I got the opportunity to grow here, if you get what I mean (uh, my English is still not perfect. Just realised I've use two very Swenglish expressions *deletes*).

I'm also sure that if I hadn't had you guys to discuss every detail of the books with, they would never have been such a great part of my life, I would never have understood them in the same way as I do now, I wouldn't have developed my love of language and so wouldn't have been the same person.

But I also remember all the fun times here, I remember how excited I was to show you our new puppy (he's now 2), I remember ranting and raving over everything, the Game Room of course (most of my posts were probably made there...), and how happy I was when someone made a Happy Birthday thread for me on my seventeenth birthday.

So yeah, thanks snitchers!

Aoi, I love your post. Many years of my life have been spent here. I've met so many and met a few. There were discussions heated debates to ridiculous pondering. I've enjoyed every minute spent here.

Like Brandi, I miss the high flow of traffic on the boards, but come by everyday to just to see who dropped in. I also miss the fanfiction talents...where we once had too many to count, we've got a spare few still posting. I hope that with the final film and the opening of the theme park in Orlando Florida will bring Snitchers and newbies to the community again.

It's been a long time since I've walked these forums, rummaged through posts and seen what everyone is up to. I will never ever forget all the friendships I made here (near and far) and I will never forget the feeling of a comraderie so close, intelligent and caring. <3

That is so true.

From the best memories I keep from my time here is the support people gave me during difficult times. This is the only community I've made long-term friendships. And that's the best thing the Snitch gave me.

It's cool to see that many of us, members that joined back when the millenium was young, comeback now and then to see how other members of that time are doing and share what's new with their lifes.

Having people to share with every single detail of HP was so cool, when I joined none of my friends were hard-core HP fans, so I had noone to speculate with. Noone to share my thoughts with. So this was the first great thing this place left me.

I remember posting before the last book came out, I was going to go on a trip the weekend Deathly Hollows was to be released. and I remember saying I would not return until I had read the full book and that by then everything would have changed becuase we would know at last if Harry lived or died, if Snape was good or bad and so on....

But anyway back to the topic, it was really cool to see the b-day thread, I had so many of them ... and the game room oh my once upone a time I was so addicted to it... back in the day when the posts still counted, forever ago, that's why I have a such high post number, but I never posted on the game room for the post number, I did it for the fun for the excitement.

Im so glad you started this thread Eilish! I think the best word to sum the great feeling we've all had from the Snitch over the years is the one bella faerie used "comraderie" . Even when i haven't posted in the past, just reading the different posts has been a pleasure, just to know how special Hp is to so many different people. The hype may have died down but the books will be here forever

I joined TheSnitch when I was 12, when I'd just started secondary school.Now, I'm nearly 17, I've finished seconday school now and it's so weird to think that I've been on this site the whole time I was at secondary school. I think what I loved the most about TheSnitch was how it wasn't a huge site with millions of members, it was smaller and it always felt like we were a really close community. Sorry if that's too cheesy Everyone on the site is so friendly, I loved meeting different fans from all over the world and reading people's theories and opinions about the books.
