Well, I have to stat to gather a lot of Characters... But the first to cross my mind are the ones of Jadealinda.
Aurielle is an awesome Character
Ellebeth and Godric also and all the Brotherhood of the Chameleon
All in all, all of Jadealinda's OC are great, but I keep with Ellebeth and Aurielle.
Gmhpfan's Lumia, from "Harry's gift" is fascinating.
Crystal's Lindsey from Rise of the Dark Lord, along with Maeve... excellent.
Also, I really like the OC of Phoenix_Song, professor Praevidi, that I use no in my own story...
So many good characters around here... but those above are my favourite, which is the point...
Second Coming of the King of Terrors!
Back from the Dead!
Edgar Allan Poe (The Pit and the Pendulum)
My fiction reborn:
Harry Potter and the Seal of Chaos REDUX

Aurielle LeStrange and any and all characters from Jade's "His Mother's Blood". Why I love Aurielle? There are so many reasons. She's just such a wonderful little girl with a big heart who has this horrible, horrible thing to deal with that she hates, and yet her mother thought she was helping her, and...yeah. Just a great little oc. Very much NOT a Mary Sue. Jade's put a lot of thought and effort into developing her fully, in all of her flaws and all of her glory. The characters from HMB are so numerous that I can't name them all, but the same thought that went into developing Aurielle is there in Ellebeth, Ric, Calis, Calin, et al.
Patrick from Sonic Seeker's "An Open Door". Like his mother, Sean knows how to build a character that you care about. Patrick has such a fresh way of looking at the world that you just can't help but smile when you read about him.
Chief Ice Stare and Gumby from Eija's "Remus Lupin and the Revolt of the Creatures" Chief Ice Stare is really a wonderfully chilling villain. His motives are so rational and his manner of speaking so hypnotic that you find yourself thinking, "You know, he has a point," and then have to shake yourself to remember "No! No he doesn't!" He's absolutely compelling in his convictions, and Eija writes him so poetically. Gumby I love because he is an atypical house elf that follows his own set of rules. He's intelligent, speaks proper English, and does his job but you know that he is only there because he wants to be. Plus, he was one of our dear Remus's first friends, and remains loyal to him to this day. That's a character worth reading about!
Vicarious Leigh's villain Damien is also chilling in his sheer evilness. The chapter in which he is introduced remains one of my favorite chapters of fanfiction ever written.
I'm not too far into Erwan's series, but at the moment, Alexander Lockenburn and his parents from "Harry Potter and Seal of Chaos" are wonderful, wonderful characters! Alexander has many fantastic qualities, but like Jade has done with Aurielle, Erwan has managed to make him a very real person. And Alexander's parents are such a cute couple! I've received Erwan's permission to give Damien a cameo in my own fanfiction as Keeper of the Gryffindor quidditch team.
Vickie's Jannabelle, which she has yet to repost, from a story that used to be called "Good Gone Astray" and has a new title now that I can't think of. Vickie has a special talent, which is taking the characters we love to hate, and giving them a human side. In the case of Peter Pettigrew, Jannabelle is his human side. And she's a very interesting character with a LOT of angst to deal with in her own right, and an obsession with Lucius Malfoy that I used to find disturbing, but now see as completely understandable. *sighs as she remembers Lucius looking all rumpled*
Any and all characters from Crystalline's "Night of the Living Fanfictions". Of course, these characters are all fellow Snitchers and friends, but that doesn't make them an less fun to read about, as they navigate the perilous adventure that they find themselves drawn into by one Entropist's spell.
And that's all I can think of at the moment. So many great OC's!
Edit to add: Filchescat's and Tess's RBGK. Hilarious. If you saw PoA, then like the rest of us, you two were left with one question when it was over. Who the hel1 is the random black Gryffindor that seemed to have all the answers??? Tess was the first to illuminate to we fanfiction writers how useful RBGK could be as a method for telling the reader important information in her hilarious anti-fiction, and now RBGK has gotten his own series of shorts penned by Filchescat. Filchescat has shown us how mysterious and yet insightful RBGK is, and we wonder how Harry/Hermione/Ron have ever managed to survive without him.

I'm going to start with the character that has the same name I do. Lindsey Pettigrew from Crystal's Rise of the Dark Lord (hope you repost it soon, Crys!). She's a fun character.
I like most of Erwan's characters. Alec, Ian, and Keiran are my three favorite. Keiran is sort of like Hermione of her time, Ian is an Entropist, and Alec is a Spelljammer. Actually all the people in the 'League' are great.
Jade's Aurielle is another one of my favorites. The poor girl. *hugs Aurielle* I like really Ellebeth and Godric too.

My absolute favourite among all the original fiction characters I've met on the Snitch must be Jade's (Jadealinda's) Aurielle Anastasia Lestrange. She has a special place, because not only is she as a fictional little girl a most adorable and tragic person evoking strong emotions in a reader, who is allowed to identify with her because of Jade's excellently consistent and sensitive particular-third-person-perspective narrative. In addition to that, inventing her special talent must have been one of our amazing Jade's most brilliant ideas. As an empath Aurielle feels every other character's emotions, so she allows Jade to show us their different points of views at the same time. Finally, Aurielle's special talent leads her to experience so much and so deeply that she matures even more impressively than Harry year after year. As a result, the tone and style of the narrative from her perspective evolves and offers us constantly something new.
Ellebeth Ivaness in Jade's other story is a character with hardly any less depth or fewer dimensions than Aurielle. Maybe the two of them should share the special place, after all. In Ellebeth Jade has certainly turned the issue of a woman's aging into an advantage. Even if Ellebeth's perspective is not the only one in "His Mother's Blood", we see her in several roles and learn to admire and love her more and more.
When I have time, I'll go through all the fics I read and I'll write about my favourite original characters in them.

I also love Entropist's Alexander. He's a nice parallel to Harry, and such an intriguing and likeable character over all. Awesome work.

Wow, thank you Sarah! That brought the biggest smile to my face.My favorite has to be Liliana's Riona Dyrdra. She's packed Dyrdra with the right aura of mystery, sadness, coldness, and yet a vulnerability within that's really interesting. I really like Dyrdra's role in the HP world. She doesn't overshadow anyone, but instead adds to everything. And Dyrdra's personal relationships with Harry's past are brilliantly curious.
I also love Entropist's Alexander. He's a nice parallel to Harry, and such an intriguing and likeable character over all. Awesome work.
I'm only starting to read Entropist's HP series, and I'm really liking what I've seen of Alexander so far. He's a truly well-rounded and realistic character.
I also like Tessa's Trini characters in her "Respite in Paradise." They're so funny!

First, like most people, I'm an adoring fan of Aurielle Anastasia Summerlin/LeStrange (created by the talented Jadealinda). I think she deserves to keep the name Summerlin, as it was hers for twelve years. She is possibly the most interesting character I've come across in ages. She's so.... I don't know. Not intriguing, as she wears her heart on her sleeve. But she has this certain mystery to her that demands to be adored.
Also a creation of Jadealinda, I'm a huge fan of Ellebeth and Ric. I also love Calin and Calis.... Upon re-reading His Mother's Blood, I fell even more for the intriguing characters she's created here. These characters are far more intriguing and mysterious than the open-hearted Aurielle, simply because they have so much history that hasn't been divulged. These characters are baffling, yet loveable, which is why I adore them.
I'm a huge fan of Merc Thompson (especially when paired with a certain Weasley male roughly Harry's age...), a creation of the slightly verbose Vicarious Leigh. Her original character is possibly the most dramatic person in the world, and that's got Voldemort included. She keeps her heart to herself and she keeps her mind to herself. Only recently has she opened up to those around her, and I like her far better that way. She is quite the mystery and that's what makes Miss Mercury Thompson (I'm still waiting to learn her real name) one of the best OC's ever.
I also adore Sonic Seeker's Patrick Fitzwilliam, if only because Patrick is the fan fiction incarnation of Sonic Seeker himself.... Well... I think Patrick is a bit more amiable. He doesn't have those funny-looking ninjas following him around (yes, Seanshine. I cna see them, even if YOU can't!).
If I find any more that I love so dearly, I will post.

Sue's (MrsFiggsCat's) Kathy Hewitt in As the Seventh Month Dies is just one of her excellently real characters, portrayed as a complete person – at work and at home, with her husband, who is not her exact opposite, and as her (canon character) mother's daughter. We must adore her just for the wonderful way she treats Harry, but she is brilliantly developed to act as the link between the two worlds of this fiction, and as Harry's first guide to find out about his special power, which he needs to know to learn to use it – as well as the guide to buy muggle underwear in muggle shops with muggle money.
In Part Two of the same fic we have just (re)started to read about some brilliantly portrayed characters of Harry's grandparents generation, and I wonder if most of them should be discussed as canon characters, if their names have been mentioned by JKR. (I haven't read the books so many times to be sure even about that.) How about Brian Prewett? I adore him for his absolute opposition against the ministry, but I suppose I should finally read Sue's Walpurgisnacht to learn to know him better.

Any and all of Jade's original characters, same goes for Entropist's.
I adored Lils Riona Dydra and V. Leigh's Merc Thompson. Both written very well, I love them all!
I'm sure there are other wonderful original characters, I just havent gotten around to reading them yet

Now that I'm on this thread, I could as well mention a couple of characters from such fics which I read nowadays on the Snitch (while some other favourites of mine haven't been updated regularly).
It's always a pleasure to see Yannick Silverleaf in Discovery for a New Student by Wolf. While Yannick is an adorable and fascinating young man and dominates the fic as a true protagonist, he is far from an irritatingly perfect character who would make all canon characters fall in love with him. Wolf has developed several other original characters, including a love interest for his protagonist. Yannick is not mysteriously related to any canon character either, and he has his own enemies, so he doesn't threaten to take Harry's place in vanquishing Voldemort. Above all, Yannick has genuine human weaknesses to balance his special magical abilities and his background.
I think "Jacqueline- Anderson?" appears in other fics by Casey711, too, but I'm just getting to know her in Nobody's Fool. Casey has faced the challenge of first-person and present-tense narrative, and it's a pleasure to see how this character is developed and revealed gradually, while she may not immediately admit all her insecurities to herself or to indulge in remembering everything about her troubled past.

My favourite original characters from other fics?
Well... most of all I am a big fan of the fics of Entropist and the characters he created in them. I really like Kenneth Lionheart and at a point found it funny that we had designed a character that had a few things in common, and this without either of us having talked or read each other's fics.
Of the adults, my fav is Alexander Lockenburn, the Entropist. Bsides the point that his creator is named the same way... (
That is all I can think of right this moment. I'll be sure to post more if I come across anything more.
Completed: Discovery for a new student. and Six Years After
Planned: Chaos and Eternity (story skeleton being fleshed out)
.:Recommended Fics:.
Entropist and Lumia (aka: gmhpfan)
Fic World (repository of fics by Wolf, Entropist and Lumia)
Beginning: The Keeper of Swyn Llyfr by *Liliana*
Riddle and Secrets and Coming Full Circle by Lalaluna

This time I'd like to add just one of my favourites. This one appears in a completed fic which I recommend to everyone. MrsFiggsCat develops several canon characters, obscure canon characters (e.g. Neville's relatives who've been only names in canon) among them, but original characters as well, and I've already mentioned a couple of them in an earlier post of mine. In the last one of the four parts of her fascinating story, however, she introduced a character who is closest to my heart: Dr. Eija Ilmatar. Enough said. Go to meet her here: As the Seventh Month Dies

Not to mention Nicole's [TrinX] character Emily, she's in a lot of her stories. (I forgot her last name)

Marlene - [don't remember last name and to lazy to look it up] - (I can't remember is that character was in the book(s) or was made up, but I must say I luff her. lol) The Original Order of the Phoenix By: Liliana03

Ditto! Marlene is canon, but Lils has really made her character as her own.
I would also like to add some of my favs (again from Lils' "Harry Potter and the Secret of Gryffindor" fanfic, ha ha), the Founders of Hogwarts. They are purely brilliant, and I couldn't imagine the Founders being any other way.

Trinka, I'm happy to see that you have already started posting on Fanfiction Discussion, too. It's been far too quiet here for quite a while. But this particular thread would require you to read some fanfiction on the Snitch first. This thread is meant for discussing those original characters, built up by other Snitch authors, who are your favourites to read about. In this way we can recommend fanfiction to each other (in addition to the recommendations on the Recommending Fanfiction thread). There is another thread on which you can discuss – and recommend – your own original characters: Your Favourite Personal Creation.
*blushes* Um...I feel really concieted now. Sorry about that. I didn't really read the other posts before I spoke...er...wrote. Anywha, sorry about that. I haven't really had the chance to read the other fics...heck, I don't have the time to WRITE my own lately. I have a favorite original character from a fiction but it's not one that's posted here, so... But, just for the sake of saying it Cassie (Cassiopia) from Snuggle the Muggle's stories 'Among the Muggles...Again' and 'Return to the Wizarding World.' Suzanne (Snuggle) is an absolute genius! You can check her stuff out at fanfiction.net or cosforums.com (is it allowed to give links to other fanfiction sites here? *shrugs*) Okay, I'll shut up now.

I would also like to add one of my all-time favorite original characters. Cythera, from LaLaLuna's A Sorting of Priorities (*coughgeneralsectioncough*) is a well-developed and intriguing character. She is spunky, caring, and brave - yet she has her house's Slytherin-like qualities in that she's cunning and independent. You can't help but love Cythera!

Aww, Lils, you know it's because of you that Cythera lived to see the end of SoPI would also like to add one of my all-time favorite original characters. Like Lindsey, I love reading about Erwan's characters, especially, Kai, Keiran (love her name) and the adult versions of the Trio.
I get a sick pleasure in reading CShalter's(Emily), Peter in The Eternal Sufferings of the Sidekick. She also just introduced Bella to her fic and I have to say Bella's going to be brillant.
Chrysanta Setekh - Òrfhlaith, by TrinX (Nicole) is fantastic. Sadly it's gone unfinished here, so Chrysanta's adventures have been put on hold indefinitely, but what's here is excellent.
