Steven Kloves, who wrote the first four Harry Potter movies, has agreed to write the sixth. Producer David Heyman broke the news that Kloves will be penning the script for Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince.
"He is not doing the fifth because he is writing another script for me called The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, which I hope he will direct,” said Heyman. “However, he read the sixth book and couldn't stay away, so he's going to come back and write the sixth."

But all early feedback about his GOF script is very positive, let's just wait and see how Micheal Goldenberg does with the OOTP screenplay.

I'm not convinced. I'm sure he made Herms more important than she is already, added loads of stuff that wasn't in the book, made Ron a real side character once again.
Everybody who was blaming Alfonso Cuaron for the movie changes should have blamed Mr. Kloves. he makes the script. Same with the other two movies. It are good films to watch and visually PoA is stunning to me, but I'm sure somebody else who isnt such a Herms fan can do loads better......

Initial feedback has always been good, at least from the press. I guess I should hold my tongue till I've seen GoF, but I hope the writer for OoTP does an amazing job. A change of directors is doing the movies good and I think a change of writers wouldn't hurt either. They've still got Jo as a back up, but every writer/director adds his or hers own touch. But I'll shut up about it till after the 18th -_^

I think the ace up Kloves's sleeve is the fact that he is very pally with JKR. She often states in the DVD extras that she has shared more about the outcome of the story with him than anyone else. I think this works in his favour, he probably new what Snape was going to do in HBP back when he was writing the earlier films or at least new Snape was going to feature heavily in the climax of the story. I wouldnt be surprised to see some major forshadowing of Snape's HBP actions in the GOF movie. My point is basically JKR obviously feels very comfortable with him and he knows alot of the secrets of the story.
I bet that now he is writing the HBP, JKR will tell him EVERYTHING, the whole ending, so that he can write a great script filled with forboding and forshadowing.

Michael Goldenberg is writing OOTP. His past films include "Where The Wild Things Are" and "Peter Pan". He is also a playwright. His works include "Down the Stream" which was workshopped in New York at the Vineyard Theater, "Elizabeth's Gift" and "Interpretation of Dreams".

Well I kind of appreciate Kloves' work and on the contrary think he could do better ... ah well, let's wait and see. I still think HBP will be a fantastic movie owing to the fact that it was simply a wonderful book.

Stop and stare
I've become what I can't be
you start to wonder
why you're here not there
