Due to the tough composition of plant food, many herbivores need to spend most of their time grinding their food with their molars. This time-consuming activity wears down their molars. Some herbivores have several sets of molars that act as replacements.

Nider stated that in the past sixty years or so a new form of sorcery had arisen: a sect in the full sense, with a ritual involving devil-worship and prfanation of the cross and the sacraments. THis chronological evidence is corroborated from the other side of the Alps: at the beginning of the sixteenth-century, the Dominican inquisitor Bernardo da Como writes that it appears from the record of trials in the archives of the local Inquisition that the sect of witches had originated some 150 years earlier. Thus the picture of the sabbath took shape in the Western Alps about the middle of the fourteenth-century, half a century earlier than the date traditionally accepted by scholars." From Early Modern European Witchcraft

Why do scholars feel forced to write such loooooong sentences?

Ok so

Wonderes off to grab the nearest book... and it is Harlan Coben the Inncoent.
Opens the book to page 123. Finds the fifth sentence.
Here are the next 3 sentences...

Matt stopped in front of him. The kid did not step back. Matt tried not to sway.

Kinda short. doesn't really make you wanna run out and buy the book but I read it today and it was really good. Harlan Coben is one of my fave authors.

Sunlight glinted off the surface of the lake like strings of diamonds, and he carefully placed the rowboater's oars into the metal cannels that held them out of the water while he stripped off his jacket. Four fat, silvery fish wriggled in a bucket at his feet. He had no idea what they were, but he know they'd be delicious.

Begin this meal with Streamlined Minestrone and serve a green salad wth the pasta. If you'd like to serve this meal with an interesting salad, try Mixed Greens with Green Beans, Beets and Feta or Foat Cheese or Tomatoes with Black Beans of Chickpeas. It was pitch black behind the boarded up door and Victor's heart nearly stopped when, by the ticket booth, he ran slam-bang into a cardboard cutout of a man pointing a machine gun into his face.

Cursing quietly, he shoved the thing aside and crept toward the double doors that led to the movie theatre's auditorium. He opened the entrance carefully and listened, but he couldn't hear a sound.

Another recent controversy centered on the merits of Eve Ensler's perverse Valintine's Day play, "The Vagina Monologues." The play, the theme of which has somehow morphed into one of women's genitalia. But this is a nationwide phenomenon that takes few selective schools are free of.
