After going through the Introduction Section, I've been seeing the same mistake happen over and over again.

New Members

You have to start a new topic for your Introduction. You can't post your Introduction in another member's topic nor in the Shared Introduction Thread. The description such says it's for "those who are not new". Any posts by newer members made there shall hence forth be deleted and those members will have to post another - individual - Introduction.



Old Members

If you wish to post another Introduction (so as newer members can know you a little better), do so in the Shared Introduction Thread. That's why it's there. There is no need to post a new topic proclaiming a return after a long-time hiatus. It is unnecessary but, if you wish, you can always post in the designated thread for the older members.


I had to post this because I've seen Introductions being posted within another member's Introduction, new Introductions being posted in the Shared Introduction Thread and also threads being made just to claim one's return.

I've been seeing recently that when members go to post an introduction, they're not entirely sure how to! So, I've decided to add in these guidelines, also an explanation on what introductions consist of!

These are YOUR introductions and "First Impressions Are Important" right? Well.. sometimes... but you want your first impression to other people to be good right?

Basically, when members go to see a newcomer's introduction they just want like a brief summary of that person! Nothing too detailed unless that's what you want.

Things like answering these questions can inspire your introduction:

What's your name? Or if you're not comfortable publishing that information, the inspiration for your screen name?

Age perhaps? We have quite the age range here at the Snitch! So never feel too old nor too young!

When you first got into Harry Potter and why?

Your interests or hobbies?

Just simple things like that can compile a solid and interesting introduction!
Remember it is YOUR introduction! It can be as long or as short as you want, although a simple "Hello" might draw questions from other Snitchers asking you to say a bit more about yourself.

Also, creativity counts. Well, you don't have to be creative, but sometimes it's fun to be a bit "out there" right?

If you're ever unsure how to post an introduction, just browse through the Shared Introduction Thread for an assortment of examples of introductions that members who have done them in the past have redone so you the newer members can get to know them too!
